This music generating machine is based around using 'oscillator' functions to calculate the pitches of up to 8 simultaneous MIDI tracks. These oscillators create repeating melodic contours that can also systemacally vary. Each track can have 4 patterns marked out, and the machine can be made to automatically switch pattern, or randomly switch patterns, by selecting from an assortment of switchers including the "i don't know where the hell I'm going" super switcher. By making the tracks automatically switch and defining different contours it's possible for the machine to produce ever changing combinations of beats, melodic contours and sound textures - which you can sit down and listen to.
In the centre a set of images of flowers change with a basic dependency of pitch and beat. Images of things that are the result of natural processes to complement the articificial process from this music machine.
It outputs MIDI data so you need to connect it to something MIDI. I have used this for a couple of continual performances and once used several computers running this program sending the MIDI data into another computer which had a MAX patch running. The data was use to both trigger sound and adjust the sound algorithms.
