The Sky Will Fall Down - Installation

Materials: projector, frame, toilet cubicle, laptop running custom generative weather systems and sound software written in ObjectiveC, using coreImage.

Description .

Inside a toilet cubicle, a projector screen was installed to create a new low ceiling, which forced people using the toilet to have to bend down in an uncomfortable way. On the screen above, there were projected computer generated weather systems (real time generation of video animation), so as that an imposing sky was just over their heads, rapidly changing cloud conditions from blue skies, to little fluffy clouds, to more grey, to dark clouds, to rain, to storms, to thunder and lightening and then frogs, fish, scorpions, falling from the sky. All this accompanied by sound effects and a continual 19Hz frequency (known as the fear frequency, it lies just below the threshold of perception and induces anxiety).
The work is exploring themes about our inner conditions, the human psyche and our awareness of imposing and constantly changing inner conditions. Drawing on unconscious and mythological foundations of conscious experience the Sky Will Fall Down is exploring conditions of temporal madness and religious experiences.
